John Wesley Harden in jail

Amber C. 5th grade

John Wesley Harden was in jail and tried to escape by digging a hole but he got caught and was put back in jail. Then he made keys for every lock on his row. He also got caught doing that and was put back in jail again. Finally he tried to tell the guard some information that wasn't true so he could get out and the guard believed him so he got out. Then they tracked him down and he was put back in. He had a hard life.

He was put in jail in 1878 and stayed until March 16, 1894, which is 16 years. Then J.S. Hogg granted him a Pardon. Pardon and restoration of citizenship was granted to Hardin by Governor Hogg.
