The
Old Elementary School

interviewed Shelley Brawley and she told me about the old Elementary
School Building that she went to when she was little. And this
is what she said... I move to Comanche in 1978. I remember going
to Elementary School where the kids go today, but it was a little
different. We had what we called "wings". The Elementary
had two wings or extensions to the building. One wing was where
the Primary play ground is now and the other wing was just in
front of the old lunchroom (where the parking lot is now-where
Mr. Kelly Parks.) We had classes on the wing, 2nd, 5th, and special
classes. And I remember one distinct thing- the water cooler air
conditioners. I also remember we had an 8th grade graduation.
We had this in the old lunchroom which has now been turned into
a teachers lounge, workroom, conference room, and early childhood
room. Ms. Carruth-the principal now-was a 5th grade teacher at
that time.
