Comanche's Past History (Dr. Ransom Tuggle) by Tyler C. 4th Dr.Ransom Tuggle and his family were some of the first people to come to Comanche. He purchased 230 acres in the Andrew Crier Survey.The school house was built about 200 yards away from his house.Tuggle,an educated man,is said to have been the teacher.Generally a well do person interested in the welfare and education of his own children would donate land to build the first school in Comanche. In 1856, citizens gathered at the school and cast 47 votes to elect the first officers of Comanche County.It is safe to conclude that this was the first school in Comanche County.
