The land where the high school is, was purchased from Mrs.Myers (who was a piano teacher ) to Mr. & Mrs.Claude Prater around the late 1960`s.The Praters cleared the land, filled in & top soiled it & planted it in coastal grass & built roads & curbed all the lots & roads. Part of this land was developed into the Liberty Acres subdivision. Mr.& Mrs. Prater also owned the land where the Comanche City Park and Indian Creek subdivision sets today. School officials were offered these sites and the site where the high school is today. They decided on the high school land. Mr. & Mrs. Prater also donated the right of way on Farm Road 2318 that goes in front of Comanche Jr.High . After helping the Comanche school, Mr. & Mrs. Prater also donated $5,000 dollars to Sidney school in 1976 or 1977 to help build a new gym.
