I asked Mrs. Works if she knew any history before 1980. She said, "Yes I do".

"What do you know?" she said. "In about 1975 or 1976, the old Comanche High School was in a very bad condition."

"A bond election was held, but some unhappy taxpayers saw to it that it did not pass."

(The old High School was located where the Baptist Church Child Care is today.)

"Parents went from door to door to try and get support for the new school. Finally, it was condemned because of safety issues."

"The district was forced to build a new school."

"While the old school was closed and before the new school could be built, the High School students had classes in churches and on other campuses. Also partitions were put up in the old gym."

"The first class that graduated from the new school was in 1977."
