Morgan Cafe

I interviewed my grandmother Gwen Woolsey. She is a hard working employee at Hathcocks for 12 in a half years.

This is what she said...

Hi, my name is Gwen Woolsey. I was born in 1941 in a small rural hospital in Texas. I grew up in Comanche Texas. My parents opened a restaurant during World War Two. There were many soldiers passing by and some may stop to eat at the Cafe. At this time you know we didn't have all that money or fancy cars we all had what we could. The Morgan Cafe was first located on the north side of town on the square. Later , the cafe was relocated on the south of the square . The cafe had several booths and tables and best of all a juke box if you put a nickel in it would play A song if you put a dime it would play 6 songs and for a quarter it would play 10 to maybe even 12 songs. Hamburgers were $.25 , coffee or cokes were $..05 and for a piece of pie 15 cents. The Morgan Cafe closed around 1968 after many years of service in the small town of Comanche Texas.

You have read one of Comanche's History. For more info go to the Chief, Comanche Chamber, A grandmother or good old Mary Wilkerson.
