Christmas is my favorite holiday. First of all my family and I go to church to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. On December 24, we all get together at my grandparents' house. We spend the whole day there. The women stay inside and cook all day. The men usually stay outside and cook the meat dish and take care of the children. I always like to help my grandmother make tamales. She always lets me fill them with up meat. We also make enpandas which are pumpkin filled with sweet bread. Another dessert I help make are bunuelos these are fried in oil and sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. They are like cinnamon twist except we shape them like a tortilla. While I am helping my grandmother the other kids are playing outside or watching TV. When all is done we sit at the table and eat with everyone as a family. After we eat, everyone goes and do as they please for a while. Around 11:00 p.m.,we all go outside and break a pinata. This is a lot of fun for us as well as for the adults. The pinata is filled with candies and even money. After that we go inside and get ready to open the presents. When all the presents are open we say a prayer of thanks. Then we say Feliz Navidad (Merry Christmas). Sometimes we spend the night at my grandparents house.
